ilario alicante might well be best known for his previous releases on big room labels cocoon and cecille but preconceptions can be misleading. here on sudden drop we plough a deeper furrow, not ones for hands up in the air shenanigans we prefer to get our heads down on the dancefloor for some serious introspection, which is why this 3 tracker from the italian born ilario finds its way onto our label. echotechno is indeed a main room slice of stomping techno but with that oh so important moody vibe that we crave here at sd,rouge dub on the flip delves deeper with an exceedingly trippy soundscape whilst untitled drop rounds things off with a spritely techno groove.

nice price deal !!! vladivostok lad eastcolors is probably most well-known within the dnb community for his mixes and for his collaborations with enei and nuage. as far as modern drum and bass is concerned eastcolors is at the forefront of that techy, fresh sound emanating from eastern europe and russia. with this in mind then, it is clear that while his tunes fuse well with his fellow russian drum and bass cohorts, eastcolors is making a departure from collabs. what better way to celebrate demands tenth release then, with eastcolors settings about placing his name upfront and alone with his first ever solo 12 inch. on the flip >heavy tone< rumbles forth with a typically eastcolors take on what a roller should be. lenzman-esque synths and strange, celestial vocals are quickly worked over by an electrical storm of droning bass and pads. as the synths return to break up the clouds here and there, >heavy tone< loses the idea of becoming another lost bass-heavy roller and settles into being a multi-layered piece of quality drum and bass.

a couple of months after the release of sweet nothings, dapayk & padberg are once again treating the vinyl-heads amongst us to a 12? consisting of a sunny selection of the albums core material, just in time for spring. kicking off the a-side, berlin summer nights is nothing short of an anthem: classic rave sounds of epic proportions glide through an arrangement of bouncy beats, crisp percussive work and hopeful vocals until a powerful breakdown delivers the hands-in-the-air moment. this year, summer has come early. next up, the sun came up bedazzles with a pumping beat and robotic vocals, while a progressive synth lead helps along the track’s love lyrics, turning this into a truly stunning musical moment, which already proved its power at sweet nothings’ heart. on the flip, dapayk & padberg present the albums opener, the trippy too lazy. here, were dealing with a rather brooding afterhours number that is equal parts paranoid and mesmerising as a wonky bass vibrates under dubbed out pads, eerie synths and vocal whispers. the perfect antidote to the cheery a-side!

the majestys pleasure label returns after an extended break with their fourth issue of disco-centric edits and its clear the time out of the spotlight has left this mystery bunch of dusty fingered tweakers fully refreshed. whilst previous volumes have dipped toes in funk filled and philly string led waters, majestys pleasure vol 4 focuses fully on music from the post-disco /proto-house period of the 1980s and sounds very much like a beautiful swimmers dj set condensed into just 12 inches of vinyl. the concerted diggers out there will be consulting their sample notes for the source material on each of these (space palace has the most obvious hook) whilst those whove simply been enjoying output from the intermittent eros label will love both sides here

the sccucci manucci label has done a fine job of handpicking artists on the rise for their releases to date, collaring the likes of casino times, francis inferno orchestra and toomydisco as well as the odd established name like jacques renault. the labels fourth release forza quattro is still grounded in the disco/house sensibility that has served them so well, though the presence of waze & oddysey demonstrates the sccucci a & r team are willing to deviate. the elusive us pair are in the midst of a hot patch right now with releases already burning on body work and southern fried and plenty more due over the coming months, so their presence here is a real coup. i cant hear you sounds vaguely like a extra bouncy cover of the classic rip groove and definitely ranks alongside their output to date. alongside this the white vinyl ep has tempo traversing contributions from fil lavin, sellouts and deadly sins, with the latters slow and chuggy -dont you know- a particular highlight

first up is 92, a straight up jacking deep house number with, as the title suggests, a retro flavour. the deep repetitive pads are jacked up with amen break style drums that were used so widely in electronic music back in the 90s. some quirky synth lines and vocal licks here and there give the track its touch of soul and then a fat bass line to bring in the bottom end. high quality simple yet effective house music...

hello berlin is the second release of samuel fach on tonkind. with his first one he made already a successful debut start. and for sure hello berlin should not stay behind. like the titel tells us, it is a tribute to his new home town. since last summer he is now a child of this wonderful city and this release suppose to be his first musical reflection to what he experienced there, so far. like on the first release, samuel fach shows his talent for a multicolored and very origin sound. all emotions have been bunched here, esspecialy in firts of may we got an essence of his affinity for happy melancholy. on the top... with a very cool kotelett & zadak remix of hello berlin, he got the right support from berlins men on the spot.

(also known for robots are un-american, re-released on italians do it better last year). inspired by a lcd soundsystem song tinto b. comes with this great record! we cant find the connection to the lcd soundsystem track that supposed to have been his source of inspiration, and actually we dont care... its some of the best recent italo disco we ve heard in a while! if you are big on italo vocals the a side is for you, if instead you dig deep electro disco but without the chanting, the dub version on the flip side will more than certainly send you into italo space. another hot artifact release from mr. bottin. tip! i know u combines tribal rhythms, pounding bass, insistent synth stabs, some distressed dialogue and a insanely large crash in the most maniacal way imaginable for what has to be one of the most devastating and original tunes for a very long time. sparse and spacious but yet rhythmical and energetic, lxc manages the ultimate arrangement balancing act here. the intensity increases gradually as the track progresses, culminating in an all-out tribal war ! a modern day jungle masterpiece from one of the most under-estimated producers around. on the flip, senses finally unleashes a track that decimated the very first technicality all-nighter back in 2004. 8 years later and that power is still very much in evidence! everybody want go heaven. nobody want dead – taking influence from the 1990 film marked for death, senses builds a dense vibe here, thick with imminent danger. rolling drums soon give way to a energetic ride-heavy break and pounding sub-bass hits. drum rolls drop and mentasms screech before the storm begins to subside half way through. the respite is brief however and after a complete silence the track reassembles, beginning with some insane slow to fast mentasm pitching which continues as a dark, slick reece begins to build with mysterious atmospherics. the tension is cut by the return of the drums – rolling along at first, before the mentasms and subs hit hard again, signaling a percussive onslaught! jungle just got catapulted into 2012.
